Featured Hotel Review - Four Seasons, Austin, Texas

When taking a trip to Austin, we always try to stay in the downtown area. During a recent trip for a wedding, we stayed at the Four Seasons Hotel. A beautiful venue for an outdoor ceremony, there were equally pleasing accommodations for the indoor reception. We took some time to walk on the scenic trail behind the hotel and spent some quiet time in the gazebos on the property. The Four Seasons Hotel in Austin is a four-and-a-half-star property located at 98 San Jacinto Boulevard.

The hotel was very clean and comfortable. The staff was courteous and didn't seem to mind the large wedding party and guests, even with a few unruly children roaming about at times. We spent some time in the health club and steam room. While there was little time to sleep, the furniture and beds were comfortable. The sheets felt brand new and the comforters cozy.

The Shoreline Bar and Grill has good food and we enjoyed socializing with friends in the pleasant atmosphere. We were told that terrace seating is an excellent spot to view the Congress Avenue Bridge bats that fly out nightly across the Colorado River. The colony of tiny bats has taken over the underpinnings of the bridge from spring through fall and is a novel sight to see when they come out in droves at dusk. We missed the bats, but will have to come back and see them in the summertime.

Featured Hotel Review - Anaheim Marriott, Anaheim, California

A recent convention brought us to Anaheim, Calif. We stayed at the Anaheim Marriott, located at 700 West Convention Way. It's right across from the convention center and about two blocks from Disneyland. Overall, we were pleased with our stay and wanted to share our experience with our faithful 1800 Hotels Reviews readers.

When we first arrived, the lobby was abuzz with guests, but the long line moved very quickly, thanks to hotel staff "triaging" everyone while they were waiting to check in at the front desk. The staff was patient, pleasant and professional. There is also a children's activity desk, a main concierge desk and one just for Disney. The Anaheim Marriott Hotel has three wings of accommodations, and our room was very clean and well-maintained. This was also evident, as the housekeeping crews were in the hallways of our wing most of the day. The bedding was comfortable, and the staff provided several layers of covers to accommodate the weather, which was 60 degrees one day and 75 the next. We dined at Cafe Del Sol, the restaurant on the premises. The food was very good; the Ahi tuna salad was my favorite. For a morning boost of caffeine, we went to the on-site Starbucks, which also has a deli. For families looking to save a little money on meals, the Pizza Hut on the premises seems to have good specials for families and groups, and you could order from room service, too.

If you're a fitness buff, you're in luck. The gym was one of the nicest I've seen. It's a suite of new, high-end equipment. They had a nice variety, with treadmills, elliptical trainers and exercise machines for almost every part of the body you would want to work out. Some machines have TVs by them, and there are fresh earphones available if you want to tune out the other fitness center guests. The outdoor hotel pool is not big, but it is refreshing. Part of it is sheltered. This came in handy for my sunburned companion who wanted to stay out of the direct sunlight, but still go for a dip in the pool. There is ample transportation. Keep in mind that parking is $24 per day. If you plan to only go to the convention center and Disney, you might want to forego the car. You can rent a vehicle there or take one of the many available taxis. In conclusion, it was a nice stay and we would book again.

Featured Hotel Review - Hyatt Regency Suites, Marietta, Georgia

Some of the staff from 1800 Hotels Reviews was looking for something slightly off the beaten path near Atlanta, Georgia, so we recently stayed at the Hyatt Regency Suites Atlanta Northwest, 2999 Windy Hill Road SE in Marietta. A short drive from the airport, it is close to Cumberland Mall, the Galleria Centre and in a nice area. The hotel was very spacious and clean, with a large guest area on the lobby level. All rooms are suites. Ours was large and very comfortable. The outer suite room had a nice TV with a variety of seating choices, including a sleep sofa. This area adjoined the kitchenette, which came in handy for out evening arrival. The bedroom area was fairly large and also had a nice TV. We ventured down to the lounge to be sociable and found the hotel and lounge staff courteous and friendly. The outdoor atmosphere by the pool was also very pleasant and relaxing.

The Hyatt Regency Suites sit atop a steep hill. It gives you the feeling that you have "arrived" when you reach the top. They recently completed a renovation, and the facilities looked and smelled new. For a 3.5-star hotel, the accommodations are ideal for business travel. Suites are equipped for wireless and feature a workstation. The conference center is spacious and has a number of meeting rooms. If you're looking for something to do with your down time during the day, there are two shopping centers nearby, as well as three golf courses and a handful of restaurants. While we can't guarantee what type of experience you will have, we found the Hyatt Regency Suites in Marietta to be a clean, spacious and comfortable place to stay in the Atlanta suburbs.

Featured Hotel Review

If you've never been to New York City in the fall, you are definitely missing out on an incredible experience. I had the pleasure of spending a few days in the city last week and there is just something almost indescribable about NYC at this time of year. This trip landed me at the Hampton Inn Hotel on W 24th. I hadn't stayed here before, but was pleasantly surprised with the accomodations. The hotel was very clean, the rooms very modern and comfortable, the staff very pleasant...and they offer free wifi and breakfast, something most New York City hotels do not offer. I got a great rate on the hotel here. The hotel was within easy walking distance (about 1 mile) from Times Square and within walking distance to Metropolitan Pavilion. Another big bonus of this hotel is that there is a Starbucks on the corner! For a 3 Star hotel, this hotel certainly felt like a great value and made my time in NYC that much more enjoyable.
